Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia) and the Fiona Wood Foundation are pleased to announce a new partnership between the two organisations.
The Fiona Wood Foundation will now become FPA Australia’s Charity Partner, and the Association will dedicate the proceeds of all its charity fundraising activity to support the Foundation’s lifesaving work to improve the treatment and quality of life of burns patients.

Professor Fiona Wood AM will become an official ambassador for FPA Australia, promoting and contributing to the Association’s work to improve the fire safety of the community.

“FPA Australia works to improve the safety of Australians from fire, but unfortunately an average of 82 Australians still die each year from fire-related causes, and many more are injured,” said FPA Australia CEO Scott Williams. “The Fiona Wood Foundation is at the leading edge of research and treatment of burns patients, and we are extremely pleased to be able to support the life-saving work the Foundation does.”

The two organisations have had an informal relationship for nearly a decade, and the new partnership formalises that arrangement.

The FPA Australia is the national peak body for fire safety, and provides information, services and education to the fire protection industry and the community.
FPA Australia supports and represents accredited and competent practitioners working across all disciplines of the fire protection, building and construction industry.
The Association is supported by approximately 1500 members consisting of leading companies and organisations around Australia with a growing reach of 30,000 individuals operating across every aspect of the fire protection, building and construction industry.

“The work FPA Australia does to reduce loss of life and injury due to fire is extremely important. Both organisations share a common goal to minimise the harm caused by fire, and it’s a privilege for us to have the Association’s support, and the opportunity to work together,” said Professor Wood.
