New Appointment to the Fiona Wood Foundation Board

Our Executive Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Arthur Psaltis to the Fiona Wood Foundation board of directors. This brings the number of board members to six.

Arthur Psaltis

Arthur is Chief Executive Officer of engineering consultants, Pritchard Francis.

Although the better part of his career has been with Pritchard Francis, Arthur has had a dynamic work life. On completing vacation work with Pritchard Francis, he then accepted a job offer as a graduate engineer. He left the firm after a few years to work for a large international practice, only to return three years later as an Associate Director in 1994. By 1996 Arthur became a Director and in 1998 he became Managing Director. At that time, the firm comprised of 6-8 people.

Today, Pritchard Francis is 100+ people strong, with 4 offices in WA and the NT, and is one of the largest consulting practices in WA and one of the most highly regarded practices in Australia.

Having been Managing Director for a small practice initially, and Chief Executive Officer of a relatively large practice now, Arthur has a strong understanding of what is important in creating a successful environment with a strong culture, and what is needed to develop good people. Arthur is a strong advocate of diversity in the workplace, for involvement with Aboriginal communities and corporations, and for giving back to the industry.

He is currently a Committee Member of The George Hondros Memorial Lecture at The University of Western Australia (UWA), Chairperson of the Civil Engineering Industry Advisory Panel at UWA and Board Member and Director of Consult Australia. Arthur has also presented technical papers at both national and international conferences on building structures and management.

Through the growth of the practice, Arthur has gained exposure and experience in many areas outside his core technical background. He has occupied many committee and board positions, both voluntary and remunerated, with many industry organisations and private companies. He has experience in private and public funded infrastructure, property and land development and general business management. Arthur has mentored people outside his own business at General Manager and Practice Manager level, and as part of formally structured mentoring programs.

Arthur has managed his career through a strong commitment and uncompromising approach to his own personal values and by maintaining the highest standards in ethical behaviour. His reputation within the construction industry is exemplary.
