Data & Innovation

The Fiona Wood Foundation is leading the way with introducing new technologies and leveraging existing technologies to enhance the digital proficiencies for the Foundation and State Burns units, and at the same time improve the patient experience.

This includes:

  • the management and enhancement of information systems and datasets
  • leading digital initiatives and projects
  • supporting and advising digital strategies.
  • Aaron Berghuber 

    Aaron is the Chief Digital Officer for the Fiona Wood Foundation and is embedded in the clinical team at Fiona Stanley Hospital. His role is to utilise digital innovation to aid clinical decision making, automate workflows and to add value for researchers. Since joining the team in 2006, he has developed core clinical and research applications with a focus user experience and each aspect of the data value chain from collection to insights. This data is leveraged by our researchers to improve clinical outcomes for our patients.

    Aaron is currently leading projects across several Health sites in data visualisation, wearables, mobile and AI technologies with an emphasis on building capability within WA Health. His current focus is utilising mobile technology to reduce the cognitive load on clinicians.

    Aaron is a graduate of Murdoch University (BSc Information Systems), UWA (MBA) and The Australian Institute of Company Directors.

  • Graeme McLeod 

    Graeme has been working in the State Adult Burns Unit since May 2015, as an MDT Officer, and also as a member of the Digital Innovation Team with the Fiona Wood Foundation. 

    Graeme’s role has supported the introduction of innovative quality improvement solutions to improve the efficiencies of the Unit, the Hospital and the Department.

  • BIMS -  Burns information Management System 
    PCH - Rollout and implementation of electronic medical application for patient notes
    FSH & PCH - maintenance and enhancement of  BIMS functionality. 

    MICE - Medical Image and Communication Exchange
    Rapid Assessment Tool /Application that allows the secure sending of medical images between clinicians for rapid assessment

    eConsent -  (Electronic Consent)
    Allows clinicians to consent patients for surgery using a mobile device - integrated with health systems and solves the issue of being unable to locate consent forms. 

    Microsoft  0365 Suite
    Beginning work on using the suite of O365 , such as Teams, Forms, Power Automate etc. to improve workflows and delivery of projects.
