The Next Generation of Researchers

Recently, the Foundation had the opportunity to interact with Year 6 students at Marmion Primary School, providing a unique educational experience highlighting medical research’s role in innovating healthcare and the significant impact that participation in studies can have on individuals' lives.

Dr Lucy, our post-doctoral researcher, and Dr Blair conducted an interactive educational session with these enthusiastic learners. The session delved into the complexities of burns and their impact on the immune system, directly relating to our CHIP Study and extensive research in burn injuries. The students were listeners and active participants, engaging in various activities that brought the subject to life. Their curiosity was evident in the thoughtful questions they asked about research methodologies, the healing process of burn injuries, and the pathways to a career in research!

Through such initiatives, we can advance our research while inspiring young minds and enhancing our collective understanding of science and health. We extend our thanks to the teachers and Bill Boyan at Marmion Primary School for facilitating this opportunity to engage with the next generation of potential scientists and researchers.
