MIT REAP Program visits Perth!

Last month we had the opportunity to meet members of the MIT REAP – Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program who travelled from all over the globe to Perth to immerse themselves in West Australia’s innovation ecosystem with events, tours, and seminars.

As an MTP leader, Fiona was thrilled to meet with the cohort and lead an insightful presentation on innovations in burns care, the challenges and lessons learnt in the development and commercialization of ReCell (spray-on-skin) and the importance of creating collaborative environments to promote a sustainable innovation ecosystem.

Fiona also had the opportunity to discuss how innovation through digital technologies and biotechnology has helped to transform data management systems and optimise clinical burns care along the patient’s journey.

In addition, the group heard from the team at the Innovations Hub, who discussed their programs to inspire an innovation culture among healthcare workers to promote a people-centered and value-based healthcare system in WA. They focused on the Kaardijin Innovation Program, which empowers workers from any South Metropolitan Health Services to submit their innovative ideas and scalable solutions to meet the challenges we face now and in the future. The program nurtures these ideas through various stages of development, testing and implementation.

We hope all the participants from the MIT REAP group enjoyed their time exploring Western Australia’s vibrant innovation ecosystem.
