Our early-career researcher Amira had the opportunity to attend the European Burns Association (EBA) congress that was hosted in Nantes, France, in early September. The EBA serves as a forum through which medical specialists, researchers, professionals allied to medicine and other workers come in contact to discuss aspects of burn treatment and research.
At the congress, Amira had the opportunity to collaborate and network with peers and experts and stay informed of research breakthroughs and evidence-based practices improving burn care worldwide. Whilst there, she showcased research conducted by the Fiona Wood Foundation (including Amira) and collaborators that have helped us remain at the forefront of clinical care and improve quality of life outcomes for burn patients now and in the future.
Amira was able to present to the community the following studies:
- Video presentation titled “Burn Injuries and the brain”.
- Oral presentation “Predictors of the Long-Term Quality of Life of Paediatric Patients after Non-Severe Burn Injuries”
- Invited to join an expert panel to discuss the “Effects of burns on brain and mental health: A physiological perspective on resilience”.
We are thrilled to share that Amira’s video presentation titled “Burn Injuries and the Brain” was awarded the best video presentation during the congress!
